WHO I AM. As an instructional designer, I strive to design engaging, relevant learning experiences with the learner at the forefront of the design process. My background in education has equipped me with the skills I need to evaluate a learning problem and come up with solutions in a variety of modalities that will not only bridge gaps, but will foster engagement and lasting retention. |
MY PROCESS. When I begin the process of designing a learning product, I start with the needs analysis, which includes an evaluation of the problem to determine the performance gap and whether or not training is the needed solution. If training is the solution, I make a recommendation on what modality would work the best.
Once I know what gaps the learner is facing, and what it will take for the learner to get to where they need to be, I can begin utilizing ADDIE and SAM models in an iterative process to design a high level design document and other project deliverables. My goal with every project is to design a learning experience that is interactive and fun and incorporates gamification, scenarios, and interactions that supports retention of information and mastery of learning objectives. |
HOW I COLLABORATE. When I am collaborating on a project, setting open lines of communication early on in the process with stakeholders is important for the success of a project. Being strategic and meaningful during collaboration is an important part of my process and helps to promote a steady workflow. |
WHEN I AM NOT WORKING. As a Northern Virginia resident, I have the pleasure of experiencing all four seasons. During the winter and colder months, you can find me cozied up inside with my husband, daughter, animals and many many houseplants. During these moments, you can usually find me reading a good book, trying new recipes, and playing games.
During the summer and warmer months, our family is thriving outdoors, soaking up every ounce of sunshine and fresh air that we can. We enjoy picnicking, visiting the beach, going to concerts and festivals, and driving downtown to visit DC monuments/museums. Our biggest passion includes traveling and exploring different cultures whenever we can. |
